July 13 is ADA Day at Boston City Hall Plaza/h2>

ADA Celebration Day

Boston Mayor Martin J Walsh and The Mayor's Commission for Persons With Disabilities celebrates the 26th anniversary of the ADA on Boston's City Hall Plaza on Wednesday, July 13, from noon to 3:00 PM. This is a free event for children, families and individuals of all abilities. View the event flyer!

July 22 - Celebrate the ADA at Dunn Pond State Park in Gardener, MA!

Adaptive kayaking at Dunn State Park.

Enjoy adaptive sports, live music, food and fun, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Dunn Pond State Park! This ADA Day Celebration is Sponsored by the Massachusetts Statewide Independent Living Council, Register online.

July 22 - ADA Celebration at Lake Shaftsbury State Park, Shaftsbury, VT from 12:00 to 4:00

Vermont Center for Independent Living

In honor of the 26th anniversary of the ADA, the Vermont Center for Independent Living (VCIL) is teaming up with the Bart J. Ruggiere Adaptive Sports Center to host a day of inclusive kayaking and a picnic lunch. There will also be an aquatic wheelchair available for accessibility to swimming. Past & present VCIL peers, their families and caregivers are invited, and the event is free!

VCIL will be providing hot dogs and hamburgers, and guests are encouraged to bring dishes, snacks or drinks to share. Additionally, an accessible bus will be departing from the Green Mountain Community Network terminal on Pleasant Street in Bennington at 11:30 a.m and returning to Bennington around 4:30.

July 26 - Join the Governor's Accessibility Awards in Concord, New Hampshire to Celebrate the ADA

Governor Maggie Hassan and Charles J. Saia, Executive Director of the Governor's Commission on Disability, with previous Accessibility Award winners.

The New Hampshire Governor's Commission on Disability is proud to announce that the annual Governor's Accessibility Awards will be held on July 26th, at the State House. Governor Maggie Hassan, in conjunction with Charles J. Saia, Executive Director of the Governor's Commission on Disability, will present awards in the Executive Council Chambers.

August 9 - Hope and Healing Around Mental Health with Oryx Cohen, Co-producer of Healing Voices

To celebrate the 26th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Institute for Human Centered Design (IHCD) and the New England ADA Center will host Oryx Cohen, leading a discussion and showing film clips from the new documentary, Healing Voices. Join us from 2:00 - 3:30 PM at 200 Portland Street in Boston.

Mr. Cohen's story is featured in Healing Voices. Currently Oryx is the Chief Operating Officer of the National Empowerment Center (NEC).

Governor's Commission on Disability

On September 28, the New Hampshire Governor's Commission on Disability will be hosting "ADA+1" at the Philbrook Building, 121 South Fruit Street, in Concord New Hampshire. ADA+1 well be filled with educational activities about the ADA and related issues.
